The first Kdrama that I started watching which led me to an addiction. I haven't seen the Taiwanese or Chinese version. I've seen the Japanese version and I have to say it's no where near as good as the Korean version.

It's about a poor and ordinary but spunky highschool girl who gets in to one of the very top notched and prestigious schools where the very rich attend. There she is bullied and goes through many struggles because she fought back injustice for her friend against the most rich, arrogant and good looking Goo Jin Pyo. This is the beginning of a rivalry between the two.

Goo Jin Pyo leads his entourage of 3. Together, they are called the F4, the most powerful, richest and good looking guys at that school. Jan Di meets Yoon Ji Hoo, one of the F4s and is captivated by his violin playing and kindness. Ji Hoo helps her each time she is bullied by the F4.

Over time, the rivalry between Jan Di and Jin Pyo slowly turns into attraction. Jan Di goes on a road to discover whether is Ji Hoo or Jin Pyo that she truly loves. In the end, she realises it's Jin Pyo, but only after many trials and tribulations due to class differences and Jin Pyo's powerful and rich mother who wants to stop the two.

The most heart wrenching scene for me was when they went on a picnic that day and at the end of it, she said her goodbye and left on that bus. Jan Di had planned to leave him due to pressure from Jin Pyo's mother. The song that played was The Heart Seems To Do It by A&T. Very appropriate here. That scene made me cry.

The ending? Well, you'll just have to watch and see for yourself :)

The lead actress is not the prettiest compared to most Kdramas, but I guess they wanted to portray the story of an ordinary girl who meets four very good looking and rich guys. Her acting is not the greatest either. Initially, her bad acting was a slight put off but once you get over it, it's fine and it's the storyline that hooks you.

There's a lot of humour here, especially scenes with the Geum family. Jan Di's  younger brother is a crackup. There's comical scenes with Jan Di & Jin Pyo.

The bullying scenes are a bit over the top and ridiculous, but if it wasn't like that, it wouldn't stir your heart and keep you watching. It makes me think: are highschool and college kids that bad?

The soundtrack is very nice. Two favourite songs for me:  Because I'm stupid by SS501 & The Heart Seems To Do It by A&T (collaboration between A'st1: Hanbyul & T-Max : Minchul). Very strong voices these two have.

An awesome watch. Loved it. I highly recommend this one.

Rating: 5/5 ♥
