I watched this drama quite a long time ago and now I'm writing the review for it :) I had to revisit a few episodes to refresh my memory.

A very young Lee Dong Wook, Lee Jun Ki and Lee Da Hae stars in this drama. Before the days of more plastic surgery, Lee Da Hae is very sweet and gorgeous here. She is still gorgeous but I liked her here more than later dramas. Perhaps, I will be a fan again later if she stars in another brilliant drama in the future.

Lee Dong Wook is hot in his drama. I would say he is a very handsome guy. Lee Jun Ki is quite good looking too, but next to Lee Dong Wook, he loses the lime light.

We have Joo Yoo Rin, who is a tourist guide. Because of how she is raised, and her circumstances, she is prone to lying to get herself out of trouble or to take advantage of situations. Her father is a gambler and has a lot of debt to pay off. They have been moving most of their lives to avoid paying the debts. Because of this, she has picked up the Mandarin & Japanese language which were advantageous in being a tourist guide. Yoo Rin works hard to help her father pay off his debts. She is a filial daughter and a good person.

She and Seol Gong Chan's initial meeting was on the plane. It was not a good one. She was lying through her teeth to try to delay the plane so her tourist group could board the plane as they were running late. She was pretending to look for a loved one on the plane and fainted in front of Gong Chan's seat. Gong Chan knew a swindler when he saw one.

They meet again later, when she is trying to run away from her father's loan sharks. Incidentally, she nearly runs into Gong Chan's car. The car didn't even hit her but she pretends to faint and suffer from pain. He takes her to the hospital to register and leaves. The loan sharks follow her there. She manages to run away but leaves her bag at the hospital.

The nurses at the hospital calls Gong Chan about the bag and he picks it up from there. Later on, Yoo Rin visits Gong Chan at his hotel to pick up her bag. She finds out that he is wealthy and a director of the hotel. When she leaves, he calls her back having after seen her business card that she is a tourist guide who can speak Mandarin. He had to entertain some Chinese businessmen and needed a translator to show them around.

From these encounters, they continue to meet. The biggest lie she had to tell was to Gong Chan's grandfather upon Gong Chan's encouragement. The grand father was dying and his final wish was  to see and be re-united with his lost/missing grand daughter. Gong Chan's aunty commented that Yoo Rin resembled the lost grand daughter's mother. An idea lighted up in Gong Chan's head. He was desperate and wanted to please and help his grand father recover,  so concocted this idea that Yoo Rin was the lost grand daughter.

Everything was going fine until Gong Chan & Yoo Rin began to fall in love. Because they were cousins, there was no way they could be a couple. Also, the class difference with Yoo Rin being poor and Gong Chan a wealthy hotel heir, she believed she was out of his league.

Complications arise with Gong Chan's ex-girlfriend (who is a pro tennis player) returning to Korea to claim back his love, and Seo Jung Woo (Gong Chan's other cousin played by Lee Jun Ki) falling in love with Yoo Rin.

She decided to part from Gong Chan and went her separate ways. Both were miserable. He looked for her and found her working as a tour guide still. However, when they met, she lied and said that her feelings for him were done and didn't want to see him again.

Because he wouldn't leave her alone and the lie they told the grand father was too big, she wanted to save Gong Chan. Yet again, Yoo Rin told another big lie. She organised for everyone to be present at a dinner. At the dinner, she claimed that she knew the grand father was looking for the missing grand daughter, and she knew the whereabouts of this grand daughter, so she decided to play the role of the grand daughter because she was greedy for wealth. However, in the end, she fell in love with  Gong Chan and wanted to tell the truth.

After this painful event, Gong Chan sent in his resignation and told his grand father that he is leaving. Immediately, Gong Chan's grand father asked Yoo Rin to visit him. They had a serious chat and he asked why Yoo Rin lied about everything at that dinner. He said that everyone at that table came to her rescue and knew that she was lying. Her story didn't make sense and was inconsistent.

She realised that she loved Gong Chan deeply, that she could not live without him and didn't want to see him leave. The aunty and uncle told her that Gong Chan is visiting somewhere first before going to the airport. Straight away, she knew he was going to be at the observatory building. They had talked about when in danger, the best way to escape was upwards.

She ran for her life to the observatory building and found him just as he was going in to the elevator. She told him, she couldn't lie anymore; said that she loved him and that she'll never lie again. He pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly. That was the start of a lie free relationship.

The last scene was with the family meeting the long lost grand daughter who turned out to be Sung Choon Hyang (from Delightful Girl Choon Hyang - I'll have to write the review for this one later.) Choon Hyang was there with her Prosecutor husband Lee Mong Ryong.

I loved this drama. The cast was gorgeous. A nice happy ending. There were many scenes that touched my heart. The most memorable scene was the elevator scene. Very emotional, sweet and painfully happy for the two.

This is a comedy and a lot of the scenes were very funny. Lee Da Hae played the comical scenes quite well. I really liked her sense of fashion in this drama. Very street smart with a touch of boho style. She wore a lot of accessories such as vests, scarves and jewellery, but in a way that was fashionable and not tacky. Although, she lied a lot, she is a very lovable character.

Kim Se Hyun, the ex girlfriend of Gong Chan who wanted to claim him back and ruin his relationship with Yoo Rin, she in the end, realised she cannot compete with true love. She was supposedly to be a pro tennis player. There weren't many scenes of her playing tennis or showing off her tennis skills.

One thing I noticed about kdramas is that they like to talk to themselves a lot out loud. It must be an asian trait. They do that for TVB dramas too. You rarely see this in US dramas. They do talk to themselves but not so often and that loud :)

The moral of the story? Honesty is the best policy ;)

OST: Alone - Lim Jae Wan/Kara; Never Say Goodbye - Mario & Nesty; 상어를 사랑한 인어
(Female Ver.) - Park Hee Kyung; 사랑이 심심해서 - K2. The OST for this drama was not bad.

This one is another favourite of mine.

Rating: 5/5
